Ashlyn Lousie Hillesheim

Kristin & James welcomed a new baby girl on Friday night! Ashlyn Lousie Hillesheim was born at 11:47pm weighing 8 pounds 13 ounces. She had an infection in one of her lungs so they decided to send her to Children's Hosptial in the cities at about 3am. James went with Ashlyn in the ambulance. Kristin was released Saturday afternoon so that she could go be with her.

She's doing much better and will hopefully get to come home today. We've only seen pictures and just can't wait to meet her!!! Katie took some pictures and she is beautiful! Lots of dark hair! Jared is pretty excited to have 2 cousins named Ashlyn. That makes 6 girls and 2 boys for the Beranek crew... all in less than 5 years! I wonder who will be the next??? =)

I will definitely post some pics when we finally get to meet her!

Father's Day

We had our annual Father's Day party at the "Farm" (Roger & Patty's) on Sunday afternoon. The weather was very humid but the wind almost made it chilly so it was hard to decide how to dress.

Family Picture (Chloe stayed nice and cozy in her Moby wrap!)

The back rack. Baby Hillesheim could come any day now!
Alec got to be the first co-pilot...
Jared was not too happy about that.

Jared (wearing my sweatshirt) getting very sleepy!

Ok, so maybe not sleeping... but close! Peek-A-Boo!

2 months 2 weeks old

We weighed Chloe tonight after her bath. She's still a little peanut at about 12 pounds! Keith held her and stepped on the scale... then handed her to me and we did the math. Not super accurate but it gives us an idea. I've had lots of people ask me what she weighs... now I have an answer! She's still wearing some newborn outfits... Long and lean, like her dad and brother.

Here are a couple of fun pics of her I took last week. She's really been smiling and cooing a lot... so much fun!

Bitty Ball

Jared started Bitty Ball last Friday. It's like T-Ball for beginners. There were about 35 kids split into 4 teams. Jared is on the Green team with his cousin, Brianna - the only girl on this team. :)
He did pretty well... just needs to pay attention to his coaches a little better. He was distracted by a cat that was walking by... which in turn got the rest of the kids distracted.
Stretching
Jared, you're supposed to be listening to your coaches not posing for the camera!
Practicing the "Alligator" (fielding ground balls)
Chloe came too!
Green Team shirts - "I like green, mom!" Can't imagine why?! ;)

8½!!!

Chloe slept a little over 8½ hours last night! I couldn't believe it!!! I was actually a little scared at first when I realized what time it was. She fell asleep around 9pm and woke up at 5:30am. Much better than the 4am wake up call that I got Monday morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed... she went to sleep about 9:30 tonight.

Who's the Boss?

I had to share this cute story before I forget the details...

After I gave Jared a bath tonight I told him to go down to his room (in the basement) to get his shorts (PJ's). Most nights he does this, no questions asked. Tonight he was afraid of the dark so I had to stand at the top of the stairs and coach him. He probably made 3 trips up and down the steps before he finally made it all the way to the bottom. (The light was on in the stairwell so all he needed to do was flip the light on at the bottom) As he was standing 3 steps from the bottom I told him to say, "I'm not afraid of you, you dumb dark!" And he did... dark sounded like dirt. I could hardly keep from laughing out loud (he's still buck naked from his bath). Then I told him, "Say you're the boss" and he said, "You're the boss!" Seriously too damn funny! So I corrected him and he said, "I'm the boss you dumb dark... I'm not scared, you dumb dark" again, dark sounding like dirt. He finally gained the confidence to get the bottom light on and then to his bedroom. I couldn't see him anymore but I heard him say, "That wasn't so bad!" from his room. I couldn't hold it anymore and burst out laughing!

That kid just cracks me up sometimes!!! I love it! I always say that I need a recorder on that kid at all times... I might just have to get a digital one for moments like this!

Bike Trail

Wednesday was such a beautiful day that we decided to go to town and hit the bike trail. Jared was SUPER excited to bike in town. Poor kid only gets to zoom up and down our driveway. I do have a tag-a-long for him that is attached to my bike so we have hit the open road but this was way more fun! I pushed Chloe (snoozed the whole time) in the stroller and Jared zipped up and down the trail. We started by the train depot (also a big hit) and went south to the end of the trail by Applebee's and back. Took about an hour. Just a perfect day for it!!!

2 Month Check-Up

Little miss Chloe went in for her 2 month check-up on Tuesday. She wasn't technically 8 weeks til Friday but it was what they scheduled her for when we left the hospital so I just left it. She's been doing really well! She's doing everything that she's supposed to be doing developmentally and is an all-around good baby! While Dr. Jorve was examining Chloe on her tummy she rolled over onto her back... second time that's happened! The first time was at 3 weeks.

She's starting to coo and smile at us and Jared thinks that really neat! He's absolutely in love with her! He always needs to know where she is and what she's doing. It's really cute when someone comes over and he asks "Do you want to see my baby?" Sometimes he'll add "sister" but it cracks me up every time!
  • Weight: 10 lbs. 12 oz. (60%) (with a wet diaper so it wasn't very accurate... they're supposed to be naked)
  • Length: 21.8" (40%)
  • Head Circumference: 14.8" (33%)
Here are a few cute pics...

Chloe's Baptism

Chloe was baptized Friday, May 29th at St. George Catholic Church. She wore her mommy's baptismal gown and bonnet that were handmade by Grandma Deb and Great Grandma Lappe. She also had her Angel blanket that was crocheted by Grandma Patty.
So sweet!
Godparents, Jeremy & Kelly (Keith's sister and her husband)

Father asked Jared about what he thought baptism meant.
He said that Chloe gets to have a bath at church. Too cute!
