Amazing Skills

Jared is a very talented artist... has been for years. I was going through a pile of old paperwork and found this drawing that he did at daycare a month or so ago. This particular piece amazed me. It's 4 pages of computer paper so it's too big to display in a scrapbook (in one piece) so I took a picture of it.

Of course, it's all about farming. Left to right: Combine in the field and then a tractor with wagons hauling corn away, baling hay, pumkin patch and sweet corn, round baling, grain truck dumping corn and then it's augered into the bins. He even showed that the furthest bin filled up first.
Love that talented little boy!

Harvesting Corn

October 2nd...
I took a day off of work to help Keith in the field. I do it every year and really enjoy it.
I ran the combine while Keith and Roger hauled loads to the Hanska Elevator.
A nice change of scenery!

The sun was going down but the picture doesn't do it justice...
Doesn't help that the window was covered in dust and I was
taking a picture with my cell phone while on the move. ;)

Grandma Deb was nice enough to pick Jared up from school and bring him out to the field. He was bummed that he had to go to boring-old school when mom and dad got to go farming. Poor kid. Ha!

Little Mommies

September 30th...

I've been helping with evening calf chores since Keith has been busy in the field. The kids are always excited to 'help' us feed calves. Their job is to flip the buckets over before we fill them with milk. Then they go and say hi to all of the calves (they have their favorites). The girls have also been into playing 'house' lately so the little mommies loaded up their babies to bring them with...

It's pretty hilarious to watch them play. I heard Chloe say several times, "It's okay, baby, I got you... I'll keep you safe." Love it! :)

Harvesting Beans

September 29th...

Keith was taking our beans out at the Zieske Farm so we just had to go get a ride in the combine! And I took advantage of some time to play with my camera. I love this time of year... the colors are amazing!

Chloe was being a turd in the group picture so she had to
have her own picture on the combine. Oh, the drama! ;)

Jared actually got to drive the combine a little bit!

Lost and Found

September 29th...

I have a few more gray hairs thanks to Morgan. I was mowing lawn with Chloe (Jared was in the house) and Morgan was cruising around the yard in the Gator. It was a pretty normal Saturday for us. It had been a little while since I had seen Morgan so I decided to check if she went in the house or was playing in the backyard. Nope. Nowhere to be found. I jumped on Jared's 4-wheeler and drove ALL OVER our 6 acres. Through the grove. Behind the grove. Everywhere. Panic... sheer panic! The corn was gone so I knew she couldn't be far. I also knew that she never leaves that Gator. She'll sit there with the wheels spinning if she's stuck. If the battery is almost dead, she'll limp that thing back to the garage even if it takes an hour to get there. I ran into the house to get Jared off the couch to come help me search for his sister. As I was running around, yelling her name I spotted the back tire of the Gator down by the shed. The fuel barrel and Keith's farm truck were blocking my view.
Hallelujah!!!
She was SLEEPING
Are you friggin' kidding me?! I was ready to call 911 and report a missing child and there she was just taking a nap on a nice Fall afternoon. I was so happy I cried. I think that took a few years off my life. Whew! :-/

September 20th...

Just having a little fun with my camera while we waited for a ride in the combine. :)
