Last day of Bitty Ball

Friday was Jared's last day of Bitty Ball for the year. He was actually sad that it was over. Which is a 180 degree change from the first day... he hated it! Unfortunately, Brianna wasn't there for the team picture but I'm pretty sure everyone else is there. Jared really likes Coach Trevor and Coach Kate... they were awesome with the kids! I'm going miss going every Friday... it was fun to watch them learn so much in just a few weeks. Next year will be regular T-Ball... can't wait!!!

Ashlyn H. & Chloe

Ashlyn (3 weeks) & Chloe (14 weeks)

SO Big!

Chloe Laughing

Grandma Deb came over Monday night to coach me through making sauerkraut and dumplings. Turned out great! Wondering why I waited so long to do it on my own? Keith and I were in the kitchen cleaning up after we were done eating and all of a sudden I heard Chloe laughing hysterically from her bedroom. Jared loves to be goofy and get her to giggle but she was laughing SO hard it was infectious! He was just playing with a laundry basket... cheap entertainment!

Garden

I've been bugging Keith to build me some sturdy tomato racks for over a year. I even built a few myself last fall but they aren't quite as sturdy as the new ones that he made the other day. As you can see, they're strong enough to support Jared's 48 pounds!

New Pet?

Tuesday afternoon Jared and I were hanging out in the front yard after daycare when I heard this strange noise. It took me a minute to figure out where it was coming from... the bird feeder on the fence post along our driveway. There was a tiny little bird in there fluttering around frantically. It was kicking all the bird feed out and bouncing off the windows. Of course, Jared thought it was AWESOME! "Can we keep him as a pet?" Ha! Good luck with that, buddy!

Look close... it's in there.

He still wouldn't come out with the cover off.

Daddy came home at just the right time. Reached in and set it free... lost a few feathers in the process. (I was a little slow with the camera, as you can see) Jared was so upset that he didn't get to hold the bird that he fell off the fence and kinda landed on his head. Oh, the drama!!!

3 Months Old

It's hard to believe that our baby girl is 3 months old already! She's been so busy growing... as you can see. She's a super happy baby and is so much fun right now. She smiles at everyone and has the cutest giggle. Jared likes to tickle her... I have to get this on video. He's such a great big brother. I did the old scale trick with her again and she's still a whopping 12 pounds. Jared was that big by one month! Kinda fun to have a little peanut! She's still wearing a few newborn outfits. Some of the 0-3 month stuff is pretty big yet. She loves to stand up and see everything that is going on around her. It's cute when she tries really hard to sit up when you lay her down. It's no fun looking at the ceiling!

New Combine!!!

It's all Jared has talked about for the last week... Grandpa's new combine! Well, not brand new but it's definitely an upgrade! Went from a 1984 to a 2000. It got delievered Monday so we had to go check it out right away!
They lined them up and Jared said "Yep, the new one IS bigger." Gee, ya think?! Keith said it has 3 times the capacity of the old one. Wow! I'm not sure who was the most excited... Roger, Keith or Jared? They were all like kids in a candy store. Boys and their toys!
They have a bean head for it just need to get a corn head. The old one is for sale if any of you are interested! =)

Her expression is hilarious!

Kiddie Pool

We went to the kiddie pool at Washington Park on Sunday afternoon with the Brennans. It was a beautiful day and the kids had a great time. The water was a little too cool for Chloe but she enjoyed watching everything. The kids took extra long naps after we got home... fresh air and fun in the sun really poops them out!

Chloe "Talking"

Chloe has found her voice! It's so cute to watch her jibber-jabber and coo. It's like she's trying to tell a story sometimes. I love it! Here's a video of her going to town... very animated little girl! =)

New Baby Ashlyn

We finally got to meet new baby Ashlyn on Wednesday night. She looks like such a peanut next to Chloe. She's got very dark, thick hair and is very alert (when she's awake, anyway). It's amazing how much they change in just a few months! Chloe is 11 weeks older than Ashlyn... they were both born on a Friday.

I think their hands are the same size!

Tootsies

Jared had to get in on the action.

Finally...

I finally got around to making a new blog header. This pic was taken on June 3rd but it's so dang cute I had to use it. She looks so much different already. Where have the last 12 weeks gone?!

Jared took this pic. He does a pretty good job with the camera!

Patty Update

Patty came home Thursday afternoon and is resting comfortably... right where she wants to be!

Grandma Patty

I know some of you may have already heard. And for those that haven't... now you'll know. I figured it would be easiest to post this on my blog instead of emailing or calling everyone. And it will be easy to keep everyone updated in the future. Here's a timeline of what's been going on recently.

Father's Day...

Patty (Keith's mom) sat us all down and let us know that she had been to the doctor earlier that week. She went in for a routine blood pressure check so that she could get her prescription renewed. I don't want to go into too much detail so, to make a long story short... she had some scans done and found out that she had a mass of tumors on her ovaries and they immediately sent her to a specialist at United Hospital in St. Paul. She knew that she would have to have surgery but wouldn't know if the tumors were cancerous until they performed the surgery.

Monday... (this week)

She had the surgery at United Hospital. Roger, Kelly and Craig were there with her. Unfortunately, the tumors were cancerous. Stage 2 ovarian cancer. I feel sick to my stomach just typing the words. We are all beyond devastated.

Tuesday...
Keith and I went to visit her after work and she looked really good... considering what she just went through. She was up and walking around... the doctor said that's really good this soon after surgery. She told us that they removed the tumors and performed a total hysterectomy and took out her appendix and some lymph nodes to do further testing. There was a tumor on each ovary. One was the size of a softball and the other was the size of a baseball. Shocking. They intend to start chemo in 6 weeks.

Wednesday...

Great news... the lymph nodes were not cancerous!!! She will still have to go through chemo but this a big step in the right direction!

Thursday...

I haven't heard anything else as of this morning but I think she should be coming home either today or Friday... earlier, the better if you ask her! I don't have many other details right now.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We need our Grandma Patty around for a long, long time yet! As Jared would say... we love her to pieces!
