August 6th - 8th...
We went camping at Kamp Dels in Waterville with 5 other families. It's right along Lake Sakatah. It was a GREAT time with wonderful friends. There were 12 adults and 14 kids! Morgan got to spend a night at each grandparent's house since she's so young and the camper we were borrowing was kinda small for all of us. Plus it was nice for Keith and I to get to spend quality time the Jared & Chloe.
There was so much to do and it was a very kid-friendly campground. The swimming pool and water park were very close... There was a petting zoo, several parks, pony rides, mini golf... and much more. We spent a lot of time in the water since it was so hot. Jared has officially turned into a fish! He has never willingly jumped into the water if he was going to be going under (someone always had to catch him). Not anymore. He was jumping off the diving boards all by himself (with the assistance of arm floaties) and LOVED it! He did it over and over and over... even in the rain on Saturday morning.
Saturday night the Beraneks and LeGares decided to go on a bike ride. We knew the Sakatah bike trail was less than a mile away (on the other side of the lake) so we thought we'd check it out. It was AWESOME! It was basically a paved trail through the forest... smooth and flat. Perfect. Jared did great. He pedalled his little heart out. I remembered that the trail met up with a road on the other side of the lake so we could make the full loop. No big deal. Little did I know that it would be very hilly. Quite the workout with Chloe in the trailer behind me! The total trip was about 9 miles... felt more like 20! Ha! None of us bike on a regular basis but we all made it. Jared was ready to do it again the next day... go figure!
Here are a bunch of pics... wish I would have taken more of the group and the campground. I'll have to remember that for next time. Keith is actually thinking about investing in one. I think we'd use it quite a bit since it's a relatively inexpensive way to vacation. Plus it FUN!!!
Chloe fell asleep in the bike trailer on our first ride through the campground.
Showing off going backwards like the big kids... monkey see, monkey do!Blake Voges, Afton Hulke, Hunter Hulke (in the water) and Abby Voges
Swimming in the rain
We rented a paddle boat. Seemed like a fun idea... til we got stuck in the weeds. They were everywhere! Keith and I were sweating and sore when it was over.
Chloe was not a fan of the lifejacket. This was before the weeds... note the smiles that Keith and I have.
Yee Haa!
Trying it with the goggles this time.
Kiddie Pool... a.k.a. the hot tub.
Does it get an better than this?!
