August 21st...

I forgot to post the pics from our visit to United Grain Systems in Brownton. It's UFC's newest facility and it is absolutely amazing. Employees and their spouses were invited to take a private tour before it opened on September 12th. Farmer or not, it always amazes me at how something like that is designed, built and operated. It has a capacity of 3.6-million bushels of grain (corn or soybeans). Whoa! Four 550,000 bushel steel bins, a 550,000 bushel concrete warehouse and a 1.2 million bushel mechanized grain pile. That's a whole lotta grain!

They are capable of loading 110-car unit trains. They should be able to
load 440,000 bushels of corn or beans in eight hours or less. Insane!
