Taylors Falls Camping

August 16th - 19th...

We went to Wildwood Campground in Taylors Falls, MN. We had a great time there last year so we decided to go again with the Hagbergs. Wild Mountain is what we really like. It was a little too chilly for the waterslides and waterpark but the Alpine Slides and go-karts were lots of fun! Chloe was just tall enough to be able to ride with an adult (36"). Morgan is about 2" shorter but we just held her when we went in line so they couldn't tell how tall she was and they didn't say anything. Good thing, cuz we would've had one sad little girl if she had to watch her siblings go on the fun rides without her. ;) Here are lots of pictures from our fun weekend...
Keith took the girls for a bike ride around the campground and
Morgan fell asleep. Chloe can be so sweet with her 'little' sister.

He was tall enough to ride by himself!

Emily and Avary getting ready to go on their first Alpine Slide!
Keith and Chloe on the other slide for her first time too :)

There they go!
Funny story... right after I took these pictures, it was time for Morgan and I to get on our sled. I turned to her and said "let's go!" and she took off running in the opposite direction. She was crying and whining to me that she didn't want to go. Great. We're basically on top of a mountain. There's no way I'm walking back down with her. So, I grabbed her and assured her that it was going to be so much fun. We finally got on the sled and made our way down the hill. She didn't say anything on the way down and I couldn't see her face since she was in front of me. We got off the sled and she had a HUGE smile on her face and she took off running for the line to go back up. She loved it! I just shook my head and followed her. Moe-Moe.
Keith and Chloe riding the chair lift. It was his
favorite part... 6 minutes of total relaxation ;)

Mommy and Morgan enjoying our chair lift ride.

More chair lift pics... Mommy and Chloe :)

Morgan's turn to ride with daddy
You'll notice that they are wearing their swimsuit cover-ups.
We tried the waterpark and water slides but it was just too cold.
Chloe was ready to go!
Our next adventure was going on the St. Croix River on a
paddle boat tour. The river valley is absolutely beautiful.

Ready to get on the boat.

The scenery is amazing. It must be breath-taking when the leaves change.

We saw a few rock climbers

The wall that the river was named after.
Look for the cross (croix). I couldn't find it.

He covered every square inch of the boat. Had to make sure he didn't miss anything. ;)

Standing at the back of the boat.

Me and my mini-me

Peek-a-boo!

After the boat ride we decided to do a little exploring on the trails by the river's edge.
I took a few practice shots to get the right
setting and this one was too cute to delete.

It was a nice spot for a family picture.

And... she's off! Time for a hike.

Next up was a canoe trip down the St. Croix. It was a first for all of us. I've done it before on a lake (years ago) but this was defiinitely a little different. The fun part was getting everyone to stay in the middle. One little wiggle and it felt like we were going over. It took Jared a while to get used to that feeling but we managed to stay dry! It was a little too long of a trip for these kiddos. Lots of whining about being uncomfortable and when is it going to be over. The kids complained a lot too. Ha! J/K. ;)
Morgan, you're not supposed to be standing ;)

Coming up on an island. There were lots of other people on the river too.

The water wasn't very deep so he walked out pretty far.
A river boat cruising by.
There is a heated pool at the campground. Their definition of the word heated is a little different than mine. To be more accurate... it was frigid. Once you got all the way in, it was better but man-o-man, it took your breath away!
Teeth chattering but she was ready to go back for more!

They also have a mini golf course at the campground. Nothing fancy
but Jared likes anything that involves golf so he was happy with it.

I had to add this one from my cell phone on the way home. I had the camera
flipped so they could see themselves on the screen. Morgan's face is priceless. :)
