Last Week as a 1st Grader

May 22nd...

I went to Jared's school to hang out with him at lunch and check out the project
that the 2 first grade classes have been working on for the last few months.
I surprised him in the lunch room and since there wasn't a spot for me by his
classmates, he suggested that we sit at our own table. What a little gentleman. :)
After lunch they have recess on the playground.
I talked a few of his buddies into taking a quick picture...

Then we headed into the school to check out the big project.

At the beginning of the year Mrs. Esser had
them finish the sentence, "Happiness is..."
Jared said "Happiness is going to Valleyfair!"
Gotta love how his little mind works. ;)

Each student randomly selected a state that they had to do a report on.
They got a blank cutout of the state and then brought it home with a bag
full of books on that state and drawing supplies. Jared got Rhode Island
first and then Minnesota a few weeks later. He thought it was pretty
cool to get the smallest state and then his home state.

Since RI is such a small state he got to draw on a larger scale copy of the state...

We learned lots of neat stuff about RI and he did
a really good job of drawing all of the details...
Keith and I did help him with the outline of a few things but he
is a really good artist so he did almost everything on his own.

Minnesota...
